Enamel-painted Figures

38.1a. This figure, like 38.1, was made by Enoch Wood. Whereas 38.1 is impressed 10 beneath, this figure is impressed 11. I have not yet been able to make reason of the impressed numbers Enoch Wood used. If I could compare two figures with the same number impressed into each, I might be able to deduce if the numbers were integral to the mold. If not, the numbers may been the potters' individual number that he impressed at the time he assembled the raw clay figure. Courtesy The Antique Pooch, Ruby Lane.
