In the 1980s, Pat Halfpenny published her theory claiming that John Wood, brother of Ralph Wood, made the figures long known as Ralph Wood figures. Despite the fact that there is a significant body of figures with Ralph Wood's mark (and not a single figure with John Wood's name to it!), the theory was blindly accepted. Believing this wrong, Wynne Hamilton-Foyn, a collector with a sharp mind and persistent research abilities, set out to prove that Ralph Wood indeed is the potter to whom all credit is due.
Wynne's research took several decades. He documented everything meticulously, and, when he moved to a retirement community and had to downsize, he passed his papers to me to do with as I wish. Below, you will find his:
